Katia Berdichevsky, OCT, M.A., B.Ed., BAH
Facilitator & Consultant

Katia Berdichevsky has worn various hats and explored many avenues, but everything she’s done in her career has been informed by her deep rooted passion for all things JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion).

As the daughter of Chilean refugees to Canada, her commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice began earlier than most. She became politically involved at a very young age when she started writing for a political magazine at the age of 15. She attended four different universities, which garnered her a BAH, MA, B.Ed., and a year studying abroad in France.

Fluently trilingual, Katia has designed curriculum for the Ministry of Education in French, published in English with the UN, and written articles in Spanish. Her activism and commitment to non-neutrality, anti-colonialism, abolitionist principles have always and continue to guide her practice as an educator, speaker, mentor, and mother.

Katia is often asked to speak to media outlets and act as an advocate for parents and students in various capacities, given her breadth of knowledge and personal experience with students at risk, exceptionalities and disabilities, anti-racism, labour issues, etc.

Her interests outside of her career include spending time with her two school-aged kids and her dog, reading, posting thought provoking stories on social media, walking, swimming, cycling, dancing and spending time with friends who share her values.
